On May 5, 2026, the IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society (SSCS) Student Chapter at Worcester Polytechnic Institute hosted its kickoff and networking event at the Higgins House.

The evening included catered food, a guest talk, and the opportunity to meet professionals and faculty working in semiconductors and related areas. Our featured speaker, Jamie Haas, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Allegro MicroSystems, presented “My Journey to CTO,” a talk focused on career growth, industry experience, and the path from engineering to leadership. The event also included a segment from SSCS regional leadership.

Following the talk, students took part in a casual networking session with guests from industry and academia, asking questions, learning about different career paths, and making connections in the semiconductor field.

The event drew strong interest from students curious about chip design and integrated circuits, marking a successful launch for the WPI SSCS Student Chapter.

WPI SSCS Chapter student Evan Haas wrote a featured article, “Growing Interest in IC Design Through SSCS Events,” for IEEE Solid-State Circuits Magazine (Vol. 18, Issue 2, Spring 2026), highlighting the chapter’s growing activities.
